In the summer of 2002 Barack Obama visited Oak Park to speak with volunteers working on behalf of then candidate, and now State Senator, Don Harmon. Obama inspired all in the room. Folks who came to that meeting looking to chat with a current legislator, left inspired to work on behalf of future United States Senator. Today we work on behalf of the next President of the United States.

You can be a part of this campaign. Oak Park, the western suburbs, and the west side of Chicago serve an important role in Barack Obama's campaign. We must let our friends and our family throughout America know what we in Illinois have known for years. Barack Obama is special. He can change our system in Washington. We need to help him do so. We'll make sure to keep a time for our usual "free form" discussion of regional, state, and federal politics. Our MeetUp continues to provide ideas and direction to local Democratic Party officials, and serve as conduit for thought on Democratic politics.
