Health care reform, a carbon tax, the federal budget, stimulus plans, etc are all something that we should be involved in and work together on. In my experience, we get the government (and legislation) that our involvement deserves. Speaking up and showing up are important. ”

    “ Since it was only first meetup I really don't have any opinion. I will attend more, hopefully, and then I can form one. But keep the momentum. We are in Bush country which makes it very difficult to garner support. But every little bit counts and hats of to all organizers for continuing the grass-roots movement. Is there a chance that Howard Dean or any other big name coming to town anytime soon? Why can't we hold also a meeting in a relatively strong Republican hold so that we can see if we can convert a few folks? ”

  • “ I feel the Meet up should suggest to people attending how they could get involved in the local Democratic Party or how to become active in issue related organizations. Speakers that aid in that effort would be great. Side note - I most likely be meeting with a current Democratic Judge who is up for reelection in 2008. I will ask him to attend the next meet-up and speak. ”
