Here's my feedback re. tonight's (11-9-04) meeting, which I walked out on:
My thoughts about the venue: The venue (1844 Market) was inaccessible, 'cause all locked up. So we went next door to the LGBTQ Center. My thoughts about the event: Well, much hostility from several, when I tried to bring up my desire to promote queer equality via the Democratic Party...and to confront homophobia within our ranks, in order to flush it out. Homophobia is every bit as unacceptable as racism. No more candidates who can't seperate state from religion, such as those who say, "I'm Catholic, and against gay-marriage." I want to help build a successful platform within the Democratic Party, dedicated to Queer Liberation. I want to inspire Dems (and liberal churches) to take to the streets with acts of civil disobedience, in dissent against the Federal Marriage Amendment. My thoughts about the Meetup Group: Some were okay. But several were immature, screaming monkeys. They clearly displayed their hatred towards gay folk, and have no intention of allowing my ideas to be heard. Well, I don't need to work within any party, to accomplish my goals...though I did for a while, really believe I could work within the Democratic Party, as well as breathe new life into it. But I assure you: If I ever work within a party again, it will be the Dems. I could never consider any other. -- Vote for Zeke in double-oh-eight, Or right-wing thugs will seal your fate! http://www.gay-bible.... Edited by ezekielk on Nov 9, 2004 11:00 PM |
