1100 S Fig Tree Ln
Plantation, FL 33317

How to find us
"Picnic Pavilion #11 - at the "Duck Pond" area on Peter's Road"

Estimated attendance
 200  people attended.
5.00 5.0023

Who organized?
David Carr and Kevin McGrath

Price

$3.00 per person

Join us for a volunteer appreciation picnic. It's pot luck, so we'll really be showing our appreciation for each other, and patting ourselves and each other for a job well done helping elect Barack Obama our new President.

Please bring a pot luck dish and a contribution of $3 per voting age adult (kids welcome, no charge). The money will cover the picnic pavilion rental and any miscellaneous expenses. You can use the "comment" field on the RSVP form to indicate what you'll be bringing for the pot luck so others won't bring the same thing.

Make sure you come to the right location: We'll meet at Pavilion #11 at Plantation Heritage Park - actually in the "Duck Pond" area outside the main park (see area map). Because it's outside the main gate, attendees won't have to pay the park admission fee. It's across the street from the main park on Peter's Road, between University Drive and State Road 7.

Bring a chair or picnic blanket as it looks like we'll get a bigger crowd than will fit into the picnic pavilion.

Use this Google Map for driving directions. Questions? Contact David F. Carr at ][masked] or [masked]

Great to see al of you. Not a negative person or moment the entire time. This was the moment and the ideal group. Hope you liked my gingerbread hearts. I hear that gingerbread was president Kennedy's favorite baked treat---he considered it healthy. Nice connection with Jamacia. The Democratic party is the party of quality, positive immigrants. Love Dems--loved the picnic. I'm an ESL tutor, quite at BC South Campus, and am quite interested in immigration and language issues.

I plan to be there, I live just up the street. The only change is that I'm not bringing brownies, I'm bringing two heart-shaped gingerbread cakes with the prez and prez elect's names on top in blue frosting. I feel that gingerbread, a favorite of JFK's, is a good holiday-time choice. I hope so. Others seem to be bringing brownies. This is an RSVP update, so don't count me twice. I'm scheduled to come alone. Love Dems. and YES WE DID!

Great Food , Great Fun and a wonderful time of joy and celebration ! :-)
    •  There was so much enthusiasm and expressions of gratification for being rewarded with victory at the polls.
    • Tom Mullen (+1 guest)
It was great sharing in Barack Oboma's victory with others who volunteered to make it possible.
    •  Good people, good times. 'Tis a shame I convinced myself that the Meetup was located at Plantation Central Park.
    •  It was a FUN time for the members and their families.
    •  Was great to be among others who share my passion for effective government and my support for our President-elect, Barack Obama. Everyone is 'fired up, and ready to go' in support of our President elect.
    • Millie (+1 guest)
An incredible comeraderie. Great food. We need to do these types of things more often, get all the different Democratic groups together.
    • Arlene Sandler (+1 guest)
Nice to see familiar and new faces.
    •  Great way to just hang out with friends and other volunteers, savor our victory and give thanks to the volunteers who helped make the victory possible. So many times after elections have come and gone, you neverget a chance to just hang out with fellow volunteers, some of which we never see again. This was a great way to keep in touch.
    • Anne Toft (+1 guest)
Terrific event - great location and fun to reconnect with fellow volunteers.
    •  Great, close to idea. I liked everyone there and we shared a happy victory celebration. We also bonded and were encouraged to continue to participate in group activities and communicatio opportunties.,
    • Diana Cohen (+1 guest)
The only thing that was more magnificent than the food was the spirit!
    • Barbara Lewis (+1 guest)
Everyone was warm and friendly. We all talked to each other all day, there were no strangers. It was well organized and the food was fantastic and lots of it. Alan Erlich was the organizer and did the great job he always does.
    • Deborah Donovan (+1 guest)
I wasn't able to figure out who to give our contribution to and my serving utensils were thrown out, but it was great to get together with so many. It was a great afternoon and good networking.

This was very exciting for me.I was never involved in any other campaign before this year.Very glad I volunteered and even got others to do so.The picnic was a great time for me to meet other volunteers some of whom I have seen from a distance and was not able to speak to them until then.I have also been inspired to continue to volunteer in whatever ways I can for the Democratic party. FOOD WAS PLENTIFUL AND TASTY.PEOPLE FRIENDLY.
