Meetup Groups meet face-to-face to pursue hobbies, network, get support, make friends, find playgroups or even change the world!
Get on the Internet to get off the Internet!
You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
We have been meeting for the past year, evolving a way to get involved and remain vitally active. The group is creating a web site called SeattleVoice.org. This is the message that will be the first page at launch:
What is this – this Seattle Voice? Not another blog. Not another political rant. What’s so special about this one?
Well, think about you and your family. Politics are really a local thing that affects you every day – in your block, your neighborhood, and your community. Where can you get the facts, the truth, and the direction to resources and links that make you an informed voter or activist? How do the politics and policies relate to you?
Seattle Voice will look at the Local, State and National Issues, even International issues – then explain how the issue impacts Your Community, Your Neighborhood, Your Block, You. In Seattle, that can be the failing monorail, the continuing Sound Transit, The Environment, The Energy (What did those gas costs do to your budget lately?) and Education – just to name a few.
Seattle Voice will feature a hot topic editorial that will focus on a current issue of the day/week/month. We will explain this issue, translate how it affects you and how you can affect this issue right here in your own backyard.
Seattle Voice will also feature Red Meat, a rant page you don’t want to miss. It will be raw, but also a way to look at issues at the bone level.
Other groups with special topics will be invited to host a section on their issue. All we will ask is that each group focuses on how their issue impacts here – the local angle, that’s our message to Seattle.
Since Bush took office, nationally, four million more people are in Poverty. What does that mean here? The upcoming rulings and changes in the Supreme Court will affect how we live our lives in the coming years. During the devastation of New Orleans, Biloxi, what can we learn and what steps to help ourselves and others around the country? We invite the Seattle Community to read and get involved in the issues of the day.
Seattle Voice is developed and managed by members of the Seattle Democratic Party Meetup. People have asked us, “Why not call it ‘Seattle Democratic Voice’? We all share the same values. Everyone is part of the same community, even those who disagree with us. We are Seattle Voice, the political voice of the community.
The doors are open. Visit often.
Local People in Politics, heavy hitters, are very excited by this web site. It's not being done and it is needed. So if you want to get involved, get active, check out the latest meeting and join in. Everyone has an opportunity to make a difference.
See you there?
