There is just no substitute for getting together, discussing and learning from each other. Just like ancient Rome a forum was both a place and an unofficial institution. It was a public square where people gathered to conduct business and discuss the issues of the day. This was and is an essential part of a highly functioning democracy. Also, it was not a coincidence that the Roman's held their forum within ear-shot of where the legislature and courts convened. Candidates were invited to the forum to discuss their platforms for all to hear.

The forum has now been revisited with today's Meetup.com concept. Our technology and fast paced lives have changed the town square to Neighborhood Meetups. The word forum infers expression of opinions and true discussion of issues. And, as in the ancient society after which our Meetups are modeled, it is open to all and is still essential to a highly functioning community.

    I am very uninformed about the structure of politics but highly informed about what is going on in the news and in the world. I know that the most important thing we need to do is to get the word out to non-voters that their party is the Democratic Party. Non-voters don't vote because they don't understand that the Republicans are for the rich and their object is to hold on to every dime and take every dime they can from the rest of us. How do we get the word out at least locally.
