Obama Bridge Project--Photo Op at Millau Bridge

May 11
Sun 12:00 PM
Location
The Viaduct at Millau

Rendezvous point TBA
Millau

Who attended?
Estimated attendance:  5  people attended.

We plan to meet at NOON at the site--which is atop a hill.
It's the official viewing site of the bridge and it's called the Aire du Viaduc de Millau.

There is a walk uphill for about 10 minutes. This is not suitable for anyone with
foot, knee or leg problems.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring a windbreaker. The site is quite exposed.

The easiest way to get there is to drive over the bridge from south going north.
It's the first exit off the Bridge.

There is a bridge toll of 5.60 euros.
If you are coming from the north, you don't need to cross the bridge. At a large roundabout
near the bridge you'll see small signs directing you to the viewing point.

If you are driving from the south, but don't wish to cross the bridge, you'll need to go through Millau and follow signs to the A75 peage--then watch for signs to the Viewing Site at a big round-about.

We are arranging car-pooling.
If you can offer a lift, please TELL US! (Especially those going from Toulouse!)
If you need a lift, please ASK.

This photo will be part of a worldwide effort to show Obama supporters on, under or near
famous bridges--the bridge being the ideal symbol for his candidacy.

This is the ONLY worldwide publicity effort being run for the Obama campaign--so if you care
about his candidacy, come SUPPORT IT!

Millau is the BIGGEST bridge in the world.
Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a great day out.

The photos will be combined into a montage with music (by DA Riviera Chair, Samantha Timmerman,
who is also a film-maker) and posted onto YouTube and shown at the Democratic National Convention
in August.

I'm looking for volunteers to help organize this shoot. If you'd like to help, either advance planning
or on the day, contact me.

We know we'll have media coverage at this event. After the Saint-Affrique shoot, we're all invited back to John and Mary Long's beautiful Medieval farmhouse for coffee. We have two car pools going out, maybe three. If you would like to come, please ask!

Sorry I can't make it - I will be in the US....

Who attended?

    •  It was fun, a beautiful setting, and the people were interesting.
    •  We had a great day. The Weather goddess blessed us with sunshine instead of the forecast rain.... Wonderful turnout. The car pools came from Montpellier to the south, the Minervois, the Tarn, Toulouse and Moissac. People who have never before turned out for a Democrats Abroad event were here. Great spirit displayed by all, good media coverage--newspaper, television and radio. Many tourists took our photo too, surprised to find this at the Viaduct of Millau!
